POV: 1st or second for interupting
I've never been a good ranger, so I decided to work on my mule and try getting better. I'm used to interrupting as a mesmer and the shutdown rangers perform is...different.
Interrupting, I've found it easier to use first person view instead of 3rd, a big difference from normal play. 1st person definitely puts some blinders on me but my interrupts improve considerably.
Is this a habit I need to wheen myself of quickly, or a quirk that I can get away with. I still have area some awareness, mostly due to my giant compass (for monking and running, even if I don't PvP much anymore, I like the layout) but its much reduced.
I don't want to get into the habit of target lock, though, and this feels like the first steps in that direction. Suggestions welcome.

im not sure why first person pov helps with interrupts, it wouldnt really change your ability to see what skills their using for reflexive interrupts and if anything id imagine it'd be easier to get predictive interrupts in third person becuase you have a wider view of whats going on and when they might wanna cast something. maybe its psychological?
i assume first person would limit ur awareness of the battlefield and if thats the case i definitely recommend you get out of that habit.

Hmm... i'll be sure to give this a try. I don't think i've ever done anything in first person just because all the screen flashing gives me a headache. What i find most beneficial to interrupting is keeping the foe skill bar about 25% below the top of the screen, wait for your foe to start the "casting" animation, quickly see the skill an recognize if it's something you want to interrupt, and rupt it. This works surprisingly good.
I'll give the 1st person thing a shot and maybe post back here.

If you believe that in 1st person u interupt better, go for it.
However, if it limits ur ability to int then change.

Never done anything 1st person. Too much movement and its nice to see what's behind you.

I find it easier to INT if I stretch my opponents skill bar all the way across the screen, gives you a split second more "twitch" time
Also since Arrows have Flight Time I find being in close proximity to my target to be helpful. In wich case I mUST have 3rd person view because Im up in the action.
If Im set to be PURE interupter I like to have either [skill]Favorable Winds[/skill] or [skill]Read the Wind[/skill] active, again due to arrow flight time AND use a Recurve Bow.

The art of The Twitch works similarly with both mesmers and rangers, save for the arrow's flight time. Hence, the use of preps, spirits and bows to augment said flight time.
In any event, never used anything but 3rd person. More perspective to see the scene around me,imo.
